本種はパキスタンから日本、オーストラリアに広く分布し、イスラエル、南米北部、カリフォルニアに侵入している。日本では本州から琉球列島の、アジサイ、ネムノキ、イヌマキ、シダ類等様々な植物の葉から得られている。単眼間刺毛が後方単眼の間から生じ、腹部腹板の後半分で微刺列が中央部で途切れず、前翅の後縁毛が波打たないことが特徴的である。

This species is widely distributed in the Asia, from Pakistan to Japan, and Australia, and was introduced to Israel, USA (California) and northern South America. In Japan, it is collected from many kinds of the plants such as Hydrangea spp., Podocarpus macrophyllus, Albizia juribrissin and ferns in Honshu to the Ryukyu Islands. This species has the oceller setae pair III (=interocellar setae) situated between hind ocelli, abdominal sternites with microtrichia rows across the sternites at posterior half, and the fore wing with posteromarginal cilia not wavy.
